Description
It is a small bird with a short tail. Males and females are similar in color, as well as juveniles after fledging; they are brown all over with a paler underpart and a darker brown crest and eyeline.

Feeding Habits
Asian Stubtail primarily consumes invertebrates and larvae, foraging alone or in pairs. Its elusive behavior is characterized by searching for food in thick undergrowth or on the ground, seldom venturing into open spaces.
Habitat
Asian Stubtail predominantly inhabits dense undergrowth in lowland coniferous and broadleaf evergreen forests, which also encompass taiga forests. They are commonly found around dwarf bamboo, thickets of nettles, and clumps of alder trees along streams. During the non-breeding season, asian Stubtail tends to reside in swamp areas within evergreen forests and open scrub jungle. On migration, asian Stubtail can be found in coastal scrub, bushy areas, tall grasslands, and swampy locations.

Breeding Asian stubtails reside in portions of northeastern Asia; non-breeding in parts of southeast Asia including Taiwan, southeastern China, Nepal and Philippines, preferring a habitat of undergrowth in evergreen broadleaf or lowland coniferous forest.
