Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. Feeding Habits
Great Rufous Woodcreeper primarily consumes invertebrates, including ants, grasshoppers, beetles, and larvae, with occasional small vertebrates like frogs and snakes. Great Rufous Woodcreeper forages alone or in pairs, from understorey to subcanopy and ground, typically gleaning and probing for prey, sometimes rummaging through leaf litter or pecking on trunks.
Habitat
The great Rufous Woodcreeper predominantly inhabits dry forest, semi-deciduous woodland, and Chaco woodland environments. It also dwells in gallery forests and, less frequently, in scrub-forest, cerrado regions, and wooded savannas. This species is mainly found in the tropical zones of the Chaco region and adjacent Andean inter-montane valleys, preferring the interior of woodlands but occasionally venturing into savanna areas and forest edges.
