Especially during breeding season, taiwan Yuhina consumes nectar and fruits of Taiwan cherry and eastern debregeasia, and mistletoe nectar.
Habitat
Taiwan Yuhina primarily inhabits middle to high-elevation hill forests, which include both deciduous and evergreen broadleaf forests, as well as mixed forests with broadleaf trees and conifers. These forests occasionally feature species such as spruce, fir, and cedar. Taiwan Yuhina's range extends from 1,000 to 3,200 meters above sea level, but it is most abundant at 1,500–2,500 meters. During winter, some individuals may move to lower altitudes. They favor forest edges, clearings, and, within their home ranges, show a preference for orchards and cherry trees. The species is known for its sociability, often forming mixed-species flocks and exhibiting a diet that includes nectar, berries, flowers, and small insects.
