16 cm
Feeding Habits
Stripe-throated Yuhina primarily feed on beetles, wasps, other insects, berries, flower nectar, and seeds. They forage in small groups, often with other babblers, mostly within bushes and lower tree branches. They exhibit tit-like behavior but at a slower pace, and have a unique preference for rhododendron nectar.
Habitat
The habitat of stripe-throated Yuhina predominantly consists of temperate forests, characterised by a mix of oak, birch, rhododendron, and coniferous trees, with some populations also inhabiting low scrub and bamboo areas. These birds are typically found in broadleaf forests and mountainous regions across the broader Himalayas and Southeast Asia, adapting seasonally by moving to different forest layers but generally staying within their preferred forested habitats.
