Description
The most widely-spotted dove of South America, the small eared Dove thrives in high altitudes. You can find this dove in the scrubland of areas that are around 4500 meters above sea level. Their easy association with humans has made them acclimate more easily to urban environments and rising human population levels.

Feeding Habits
Eared Dove, primarily herbivorous, consumes a varied diet of seeds, grains, and nuts. It forages on the ground, often forming large flocks at food sources. Unique preferences include seasonally abundant crops, although eared Dove may occasionally eat insects.
Habitat
The eared Dove thrives in diverse terrestrial habitats, from temperate to tropical zones, at elevations up to 2000 meters, and reaching 4400 meters in Andean regions. It prefers open landscapes such as arid scrublands, savannas, grasslands, and sometimes patchy woodlands. Often adapting to human-modified environments, it is common in agricultural areas, pastures, and urban centers, and exploits new niches in deforested zones.
