It can reach a length between nine and eleven centimetres and looks slightly similar to the Sangkar white-eye. The back is olive green and the iris is brown. The bill and the feet are coloured black. The voice is characterized by soft twitters.

Feeding Habits
Black-capped White-eye consumes insects, grubs, various fruits, and nectar. They forage in small to medium-sized flocks, often with other bird species, across different forest layers and shrubs. Unique in their diet are grass seeds during droughts and a variety of specific fruits and nectar from plants like Loranthaceae and Eugenia.
Habitat
The habitat of black-capped White-eye encompasses upper hill forests and extends to lower montane forests. It further ascends into upper montane bushlands and alpine ericaceous meadows, which are among the few environments where this small bird species thrives. Generally found in regions characterized by such forested ecosystems.
