Description
A small yellow bird with a prominent white eye ring surrounding a dark eye. The underparts and head are yellow, with a black loral stripe, black bill, the flight and tail feathers are brown edged with yellowish olive. Some subspecies are greener, especially those occurring in forest. Juveniles are darker. This bird measures 11·5 cm in length and the weight varies from 6.8 to 14.1g.

Feeding Habits
Northern Yellow White-eye primarily eats small arthropods, nectar, fruits, and occasionally small seeds. It forages in groups, often participating in mixed flocks, and prefers the dense foliage of upper tree canopies.
Habitat
Northern Yellow White-eye occupies a diverse range of environments across broader geographical regions, primarily favoring wooded areas. Its habitat includes savanna woodlands, thorn scrubs, montane and lowland forests. They are also found in riverine vegetation, forest clearings, wooded swamps, agricultural landscapes, and urban settings such as parks and gardens. Typically, northern Yellow White-eye is associated with regions at elevations from 1,100 meters up to 3,400 meters, sometimes in proximity to heath and moorland zones. However, they generally avoid dense high forest and secondary forest areas.

Distribution Area
The northern yellow white-eye is widely distributed in sub-Saharan Africa from Senegal, Gambia and Mauritania in the west east to Ethiopia and Eritrea then south to northern Angola.
